A Fool is Right in His Own Eyes, But a Wise Man Listens to Advice.

Does anyone really have our back more than ourselves?

While we may look for validation, reassurance, and advice before we take that leap of faith, try to look for the answers within first. When we want to make any decision or we are seeking guidance around an issue it's best to ask this question of ourselves and recognize the first answer that truly comes from our heart, is the correct answer.

Intuition or ‘gut instinct’ is what we immediately feel about a situation, a person, or a choice we need to make. It is our inner knowing, a feeling that only we can experience within. When we learn to recognize it; this is the ultimate act of trusting ourselves.

The ‘ego’ expresses itself as thoughts entering our mind after that initial intuitive feeling. Put simply, it is the act of overthinking and the rambling voice in our head. The ego tries to convince us that our intuition is wrong, as the ego is based on the external circumstances around us. Its main job is to try and protect us based on our past patterns surrounding our failures, fears, and pain. It may show up as what we think we should be doing, not necessarily what is best for us in the long run.

We know the ego is at work when we tap into noticing if the thoughts or feelings that present as fear, anxiety, insecurity, are ever changing, inconsistent and/or judgmental. Intuition is always confident, steady, divine and gives us a simple answer and knows only love.

By learning how to separate the two and consciously take the advice from our intuition, we can become unstoppable in paving the fastest way towards what is truly best for us.

Aside from distinguishing the ego from the gut, throughout our lives many external sources will have opinions, offer advice (whether we ask for it or not). While most of the time this will come from people that we consider our nearest and dearest with the best of intentions, its important to ask ourselves; Should we take advice from someone who has not walked in our shoes? Would we take advice from someone who we would not trade places with? If the answer is no to either or both, then maybe it’s time to become ‘the fool’ of our own story and follow our intuition.

I knew for years that a goal of mine was to live overseas, but I did not know why I had such a burning desire for this when I already felt so blessed with the material world that I had created around me. I knew for some reason I had to make that change, I had to take the leap of faith and just go for it. Better a whoops than a what if, right?

I ignored my intuition for many years, red flag after red flag I kept moving forward with relationships, friendships, and situations that I knew were not in line with my highest good. Letting the ego take over, I was becoming my own worst enemy.

If I had taken the advice of some people around me, I may have chosen to live in fear and stay in my comfort zone. At this time, I did not know a saying I had heard recently, “If you aren’t growing, you’re dying” would resonate so much. Honestly to look back now, I felt in many ways my soul was slowly dying if I did not make a drastic change.

I was at a crossroads; do I sell everything and follow my gut? Making the move overseas, OR do I listen to the advice of those around me and my own ego? One piece of “advice” that distinctly stands out was “Why would you do that? What if you do not last over there and you have sold everything and have to come back to nothing and live with your parents again?”

If I had not of listened to my gut and stepped into the unknown back in mid 2019 when I moved my life to Canada, I would not have stepped into my power. I would not have helped all the people that I have on this journey, and I would not have written this blog which I hope in some way will also help YOU. Aside from this, I certainly would not have dived deep enough into my own soul to realize I am the ‘Musk Deer’ in my own story.

When the deer begins to smell the scent, it goes searching for the source of this delightful fragrance. The deer will search high and low for the source – which is no where to be found; Not realizing that the scent it is searching for is found within itself all along.

To continue to grow, at no matter what age or stage of life, you need to take comfort in the uncomfortable. Throw caution to the wind and be ready to embrace the unknown; leaving behind any fear, worry or anxiety about what may or may not transpire.

If you have a nudge or a feeling you cannot explain perhaps you need to take a leap of faith, because what else are you waiting for? Even if you do not feel totally ready or equipped for what is coming, the growth, development, and/or adventure you will experience will lead you to exactly where you need to be.

In 2020 many of us experienced epic changes and challenges. Please know that change does not make us grow; but that we can grow through change. You do not need to wait for someone to give you the green light or hold off until you have all the skills, tools, and resources you think you might need.

You never know what the future holds, but like the Fool, will you just take a chance, step into the unknown and see what happens? If you do, get ready to realize your true potential.
