Darkness Cannot Sustain Itself as it Will Always Unravel on its Own.

Light cannot exist without darkness, and darkness cannot exist without light. However, both can be our best teachers.
If it wasn’t for cycles gone by where light has proceeded the dark or good prevails over evil, how would we ever evolve? It is during the darkest times that we choose to find the light which leads us to our destination.
When the light does its work properly, it contains a huge healing power. As you may already know, you need to ‘Feel it to heal it’ and in these times of darkness, the light will always find a way to poke holes through the dark. The light can awaken us when we are asleep.
Because the light comes from Source, the Universe, Angels, God, whatever or whoever it is you believe in. It is that very belief system that takes the darkness and transmutes it into the light.
Generally, I have always been able to find the silver lining; Someone who actively seeks the light and if truth be told avoids the dark.
I grew up in the 90s. A generation that literally saw the world shift. I know what it was like to go to school without social media; a life before computers and mobile phones ruled our world. We spent all our free time outdoors and just had to be home before the streetlights came on. We called our friends on the landline to organize sleepovers and trips to the movies and then got given mobile phones that same Christmas. In the blink of an eye, we had access to all the technology that changed life as we knew it forever.
We had to take selfies on a disposable camera and then wait with anticipation while the film got developed and we would pick up the photos to see who even made the frame, how many chins we had and spoiler alert… there were no filters!
Having one foot in the future and one foot in the past, we grew up internet savvy enough, but we weren’t navigating an iPad as infants. My point is, we were constantly told with all the advancements in technology we could be whoever we wanted to be, go wherever we wanted to go and do whatever we want to do with our future. We were led to believe that we had so many advantages over the generations that came before us.
Fast forward 20 years to be then hit with some of the darkest times we could have imagined way back in the 90s.
For me, some days feel like I’m in a hole that every time I dig my way to the surface, the ground gives way beneath me, and the hole gets deeper each time or even tries to swallow me.
In the past, I have always found my way to just get on with it, resilience being one of my biggest strengths. However, this is the first time in my life I have ever consciously sat in the 'dark' for this long.
I find myself in another country where I can’t go back home even just for a visit, let alone to live. The home I knew and loved as Australia is now a shadow of its former self and more like a prison with no way in or out. I ask myself daily, WHY?
“Without the dark, we'd never see the stars." — Stephenie Meyer
Then I remind myself, everything happens for a reason. I am here for a reason and perhaps it is to remind me that the more I try and find happiness outside myself and keep running away from the dark, versus integrating my shadow, the unhappier I will remain or become. As happiness is a state that must always come from inside oneself.
It’s like the analogy of the more you have, the more you want or, the more you earn, the more you spend. That doesn’t mean that you are not allowed to want for more, to strive to do better, to chase the next promotion or up-level.
It just simply means that while you are chasing the next big thing and trying to escape your present reality, it is possible to live in the light while you reside in the dark. Because this too shall pass.
Here are some suggestions on How to Support Yourself during Dark Times:
Gratitude! – It’s truly the simple things during these times of uncertainty. Each night I am able to see the moon I am beyond grateful when I see the sun shining in my window or the rain making everything green again. I stop in my tracks and express gratitude. Gratitude is the attitude!
Connect with Like-minded People – These people will be your greatest support network, whether they are friends (new or old), or powerful healers you end up working with. Always remember, your vibe attracts your tribe, and you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with, this includes content you consume, watch, or listen to. Because ultimately what you consume will consume you.
Have the confidence to say, “I am better than that.” And “I deserve better than this” It’s nothing like the moments of darkness and fear that force us to conform or settle for a narrative that is being pushed upon us. You are WORTHY of what you want in life and should never SETTLE for anything less or for what does not resonate with you!
Be Patient with Yourself - You may not have the answers right now. I certainly don’t, but instead of trying to escape where I am right now, I am focusing on the internal landscape and trying to discover the lessons in the here and the now. They probably don’t make logical sense at this moment and that’s ok because I trust they will in time.
Choose Your Battles Wisely. Darkness is designed to make you tired, to drain you, to make you say, “well if you can’t beat them, join them” But…WHAT IF you just waited a bit longer? Things change so quickly, especially now. Instead of succumbing to fear, just take a breath and wait. The anxiety will pass, and you will recognize, that it was a fleeting moment of the fear seeping in.
Reframing – Whatever is happening in your reality right now is drawing attention to something that the universe wants to TEACH you. Ask yourself, why is this happening FOR ME? What can I learn from this?
Our world has changed and life as we knew it, with the simple freedoms we never thought about as ‘freedoms’ are slowly but surely being taken away. Whether you are ready to accept that or not, I realize you’ll only read on if you’re ready to hear this and if you’re not, that’s ok too. We all find our way on our own terms when we are ready.
Psalm 21:11 ‘Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.’
If you enter a system that has conditioned you to chase the green tick, what good can come from this? All you need to do is look back at history to realize this is a slippery slope.
If it’s not in alignment for the highest good, it won't last. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen for some time, or “they” won’t continue to try, but ultimately the light will win. The quicker we as the collective realize this and do not comply, the sooner the light can take over.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” — Martin Luther King, Jr.
